Duration:— Minimum of 18 months


The Master of Science Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies is designed to provide graduate-level education for students. Consistent with the philosophy and mission of the programme, the programme, therefore, aims to take the regional lead in providing support for peacemaking and conflict prevention schemes on the ground.  The programme is also designed for students interested in the study of conflict-affected areas and constructive ways to create peace. The programme addresses inequality, violence, security, and instability, as well as all levels of contributing factors to peace and conflict, from the individual to global issues.

One of the aims of the programme is to train students and experts that will facilitate peaceful, tolerant, stable society in the northeast sub-region of Nigeria, Nigeria as a whole, West Africa,  Africa and the world at large.

The National Open University of Nigeria, (NOUN) is the only Nigerian University dedicated to Distance Learning in the Country. The National Open University of Nigeria from the inception of its academic programmes in 2003, had commenced Postgraduate studies in each of its five schools, particularly at the postgraduate Diploma level. Nonetheless, the Senate of the NOUN formalized the establishment of a School of Postgraduate Studies at its 46th Regular Meeting of April 6, 2009. The Postgraduate programmes of the University are run either on Full-time (particularly for research-based Ph.D and Masters Degrees) OR flexible time bases. Our programmes are designed to expand the depth of your knowledge and to develop new skills, update your professional skills as well as add value to your organisation and business. Hence most of our programmes, particularly at the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters level, are by Coursework and Research underpinned by the principles of Open and Distance Learning.    Below are the compulsory O.level requirements as well as the acceptable results and their minimum grades.
